Carlos Moro
Passionate about the vineyard and the land, Carlos Moro is the founder and current president of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, one of the most successful and prestigious wine companies, with a presence in six Denominations of Origin through its nine wineries. His family background has always been linked to vineyards and wine for more than 800 years.
Born in Valladolid in 1953, this agricultural engineer is, above all, a lover of Spanish wine. Carlos Moro González studied Oenology and Viticulture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, holds a Diploma in SME Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid, a Diploma in Business Economics from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a Master's Degree in Information and Communications Technologies. He is also a member of the Cuerpo Superior de Administradores Civiles del Estado (1983) and the Cuerpo Superior de Sistemas y Tecnologías de la Información (1992).
Carlos Moro worked extensively in different organisations, which enabled him to acquire the knowledge, experience and training necessary for his future professional career. In 1988 he laid the first stone of what is today the framework of a company to which he has since dedicated his body and soul, Matarromera.
Carlos Moro is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Princess of Girona Foundation and President of APD Castilla y León. He is vice-president of the Wine Technology Platform and sits on the Executive Committee of the Spanish Wine Federation and the Fundación Riojana para la Innovación. He has been president of Vitartis, the Business Association of Food Biotechnology and the agri-food sector in Castilla y León, and was also president of the Rueda Wine Route. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish-German Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Social Council of the University of Valladolid.
