Inazio Martinez de Arano
Head of the Mediterranean Facility (EFIMED). He has 15 years of research experience, and he served as coordinator of forestry research at NEIKER-TECNALIA in Spain (2004-2007). As CEO of USSE (2008-2013) he followed and analysed all major forest and nature related policy developments in the EU and the broader Europe. This has given him a deep understanding of the actors, institutions and processes involved in the policy making and, also, about the languages, views, needs and idiosyncrasy of different stakeholder groups. He has then worked in policy-science initiatives both from the science and the stakeholder points of view. He has extensive working experience in European Projects (ROSEWOOD4.0, SIMRA, MYSUSTAINABLEFOREST, FORESTERRA, BEWATER among others). He coordinated the H2020 INCREDIBLE project on innovative networks in forestry and is currently the coordinator of EFI’s Bioregions Facility, a platform connecting forward-thinking regions across Europe to work together to unlock regional potential through international exchange on the forest circular bioeconomy.
